Shoulder fractures can cause severe pain, swelling, limited mobility, and instability in the shoulder Like in all Fractures, reduction and alignment of all bones are key to success. However the Rotator Cuff Muscles can become your enemy as they can move the fragments easy out of alignment. It is essential, how may fragments your fracture shows.

When you choose Dr. Hans J. Poessel for your shoulder fracture treatment, you can expect the following comprehensive approach:

1. Accurate Diagnosis: Dr. Poessel begins by conducting a thorough evaluation, including a detailed discussion of your symptoms, the circumstances surrounding the injury, and a physical examination. Diagnostic imaging tests, such as X-rays, CT scans, or MRI scans, may be utilized to assess the extent of the fracture, identify any associated injuries, and determine the most appropriate treatment plan. It is most important to set a stage of degeneration and trauma for the correct treatment.

2. Non-Surgical Treatments: In some cases, non-surgical treatments may be sufficient to manage shoulder fractures, especially if the fracture is stable and well-aligned. These may include immobilization of the shoulder using a sling or brace, pain management with medications, and physical therapy to promote healing, restore range of motion, and strengthen the surrounding muscles.

3. Surgical Interventions: If the fracture is severe, displaced, or involves multiple fragments, Dr. Hans-J. Poessel may recommend surgical intervention. The specific surgical procedure will depend on the location and characteristics of the fracture. It may involve realignment of the fractured bones using screws, plates, or wires, or in some cases, the use of specialized implants to reconstruct damaged bone or joint surfaces.

4. Rehabilitation and Follow-up Care: Dr. Hans-J. recognizes the importance of post-treatment rehabilitation in optimizing recovery and restoring shoulder function. He collaborates closely with rehabilitation specialists to develop personalized rehabilitation programs tailored to your specific needs. REMARKS:

If you ever have an unlucky event of shoulder surgery, makes sure that not only X-Ray and CT Scan is done, as everybody focus on the fractures. Often the Rotator Cuff Tears are overseen, and shoe weeks after the fracture when the movement does not get better. Early MRI can prevent this oversight.
After you had surgery with metal implants, MRI is often not possible anymore due to metal artefacts..
